DroneRANGER

Drone / UAV Defence System

DroneRANGER

MainPic-LR10

Overview:

DroneRANGER was developed to detect and defeat any kind of unmanned aerial vehicle, from micro-drones to large UAVs.  DroneRANGER in combination with the Long Range Radar System is applied to protect critical infrastructures where drones need to be detected at large distances. Micro-drones are typically detected within a distance of 2 to 4 km.

The defence system consists of a jamming system blocking radio frequencies used to remote control drones as well as blocking the frequency bands of Global Satellite Navigation System allowing drones to fly by auto-pilot.

Depending the application, protection level and geographical location, the jamming system is adapted regarding frequency band coverage and output power.

DroneRANGER is a modular system that may be used for detection or defence of drones independently.

Applied as a full system (combination of detection and defence), the radio frequency jamming may occur automatically upon drone detection or through manual assistance by a supervisor.

The frequency jamming may occur through directional or omnidirectional antennas, as well as in combination for a near- and far-field coverage.

Application:

  • Critical infrastructure protection (government premises, nuclear power plants, airports)
  • Military and Homeland Security
  • Protection against espionage attacks
  • Protection of prisons against smuggling weapons, mobile phones and drugs
  • Border protection

Features:

Detection of Drones

  • Long range radar system with detection range up to 6 km
  • 360° coverage - fastest scan rate 1 Hz
  • Smallest RCS* (Radar Cross Section) value of 0.006m2.

*measurement unit of detection capacity of an object by a radar

  • Automatic tracking of multiple detected objects by radar system.
  • PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) thermal / colour camera for identification of detected objects (optional).
  • Automatic tracking of multiple detected objects by camera (optional).
  • Cooled or un-cooled thermal imager.

Drone Countermeasures

  • Remote control frequency jamming: frequency coverage of all commercial available civil drones
  • GSNS (Global Satellite Navigation System) jamming: coverage of worldwide GNSS network
  • Variable output power to block drones from 100 m to several kilometres
  • Omnidirectional or directional antennas
  • Directional high-gain antennas mounted on Pan-Tilt platform to follow the drone (track) and to transmit the jamming signal in the direction of the drone
  • Pan-Tilt platform with antennas interfaced with the radar or camera system (optional)
  • Frequency jamming may occur automatically upon drone detection or upon supervisor assistance
